  1. This archive contains an AmiWin port of the WWW browser Chimera.

  3. It should work with both the registered and unregistered version
  4. of AmiWin.
  5.  
  6. Please consider this an early alpha version. Only simple things
  7. like loading html pages and inline images, printing, bookmarks and
  8. caching have been tested. Advanced features like proxies, external
  9. viewers and others things have not been tested at all and are
  10. likely not to work.

  12. Anyway, since I will not have much time to do a lot of testing
  13. and debugging myself, I am releasing this alpha version of Chimera
  14. to the public in the hope to get some useful bug reports that
  15. might make bug fixes easier for me. Besides it is not as if
  16. *that* many WWW browers already exist for the Amiga :-).

  18. Please do not make suggestions about how to improve the
  19. functionality of Chimera (HTML-2/3, NetScape features, better
  20. GUI, whatever). The sources of Chimera are rather old, and I
  21. have no intention to dig through them and implement new
  22. features :).

  24. There is not much documentation yet, and no Installer script.

  26. To install Chimera, simply copy all files in "x11/" to your
  27. AmiWin installation in "x11:".
  28.  
  29. For documenation, please have a look at the file "help.html".

  31. The caching behavior can be changed in the file
  32. "x11:lib/x11/app-defaults/Chimera". The default setup in that
  33. file is to use up to 10 MB in the directory "x11:chimera_cache",
  34. to NOT delete the files after leaving Chimera, and a cache
  35. expiration time of two days.
